Check out the U.S. Sand Sculpting Challenge this Labor Day Weekend

I received incentives to write this post, however all experiences and opinions expressed are my own.image1What are you doing this Labor Day Weekend? I know what my family will be doing! The U.S. Sand Sculpting Challenge is returning to San Diego for its fifth year as one of the world’s most important sand-sculpting competitions! And this family-friendly extravaganza offers a wonderful array of activities for guests of all ages.

The U.S. Sand Sculpting Challenge will be held at the ‘B’ Street Cruise Ship Pier on a “built-for-the-occasion beach,” with more than 300 tons of sand brought in for the event – that’s insane! It takes two full weeks from start-up to tear-down to achieve what American Express calls one of the top 20 “Must See” seaside events in the world.

World Master Class sand artists will come from all over the world to create the finest sculptures ever seen in Southern California – and they have just four days to do it! Once they’ve completed their masterpieces, the public can view these amazing sandcastles from September 2 – 5, 2016. Plus back by popular demand, the Cool California Carvers Class, which is comprised of seven teams of three professionals, will each be carving for two days.

Additionally, your kids can learn to build sandcastles by professional sculptors who’ve created award winners in Amsterdam and Paris and Tokyo. There will be a Kid Zone with rides and for mom and dad there is a beer garden. The whole family can choose from over 100 kinds of yummy snacks and meals from gourmet food trucks, and live bands will be rocking throughout the weekend.

No matter how much you love them, unfortunately you can’t buy the sand sculptures (I don’t even like sandy feet in my car, so I can’t imagine taking home a whole sand sculpture!). But you can buy more than 1,000 works of art in other media at the Dimensional Art Exposition on site. Many of the finest artists in the Southwest exhibit will be selling their amazing one-of-a-kind art on the pier next to the majestic sandcastle creations at the show.
