A couple of weeks ago, I shared with you all how excited I was that ALDI has arrived to Southern California. I got so many great things at such great prices! In addition to the many staple items that I use on a daily and/or weekly basis, I got many of my favorite fresh foods for summer. Today, I want to share a special meal I made with high-quality ALDI ingredients, featuring my delicious homemade pepper jack cheese sauce!

When I visited my local ALDI, I was so excited to find mini purple potatoes! Let’s be honest, I mainly bought them because they were purple, but I also knew that because they were from ALDI, they would be fresh AND delicious (and pretty, haha). ALDI speaks fresh fluently – EVERYTHING at the store is super fresh. PLUS, every item that the store sells is tested by the culinary experts at the ALDI test kitchen for quality and freshness.

I also bought some USDA Foxy Organic Broccoli – at a steal – and USDA Choice Top Sirloin Steak. I love that the Top Sirloin from ALDI is hand selected and trimmed, and fresh, never frozen. When you shop at ALDI, you’ll find that their fresh steaks and roasts are all packed in vacuum-sealed leakproof packaging. This guarantees that your meat will stay fresher, longer.

For an extra special dinner for two, I decided to make USDA Choice Top Sirloin Steak, smashed purple baby potatoes, and fresh USDA Foxy Organic Broccoli with pepper jack cheese sauce. I love this super decadent and delicious pepper jack cheese sauce because it’s fast and easy to make, and its zesty, rich flavor pretty much complements everything on the plate (I think I ended up putting it on EVERYTHING)!

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons Countryside Creamery Butter
  • 3 tablespoons SimplyNature® All Purpose Organic Flour
  • 1 1/2 cups Friendly Farms Organic Milk
  • 1/2 pound Happy Farms Pepper Jack Cheese, cubed or shredded

Directions:

Melt Countryside Creamery Butter in a saucepan over medium heat; whisk SimplyNature® All Purpose Organic Flour into butter until smooth. Pour Friendly Farms Organic Milk into butter mixture and stir with a wooden spoon to combine. Cook and stir until mixture thickens. Add Happy Farms Pepper Jack Cheese and stir until cheese is completely melted. Season with salt, pepper, and other desired spices (I used Stonemill Essentials Chili Powder) to taste.

I love that with ALDI I can make a special meal that’s extra fresh, and cost friendly too! All together, this deluxe steak dinner for two cost under $15!
