DIY Melted Crayon Art

Way back, a long time ago (as in like, 2012), when this DIY blog was just a baby, I made some DIY melted crayon art, and I shared it on the blog. It’s actually probably one of my favorite DIY crafts that I’ve ever made. I put it in my daughter’s room, and I hope that all the different colors perk her imagination. Later down the road, once she knows how to read, I hope the “Create” inspires her to follow her dreams. The DIY crayon art is also a favorite of a friend of mine. In my old house, the “Create” art was in a more prominent area, and every time he came over, he would comment on how much he loved it. (more…)

DIY Busy Board

Okay, so crazy life update: my baby girl is no longer a baby! She’s a toddler! And she does more than just toddle – she walks, runs, climbs – the whole kit and caboodle. AND she loves getting into everything, and I mean EV-ERY-THING. So when I saw a picture on Facebook of a busy board a super creative dad made for his son, I knew I had to make a busy board for my daughter! (more…)

DIY Homemade Dog Treats

We’ve been experiencing temperatures in the triple digits (Fahrenheit), and while it’s way too hot for us humans, I can’t imagine how miserable it must be wearing a fur coat! So I decided to make my dogs a special frozen dog treat to keep them cool and hydrated in the heat. These frozen homemade dog treats are super easy to make, and you probably have all the ingredients already at home! (more…)

DIY Crafts: How to Make DIY Crayons

DIY Crayons

Hey, everybody! Recently my niece had her 4th birthday, and when I asked my sister what I should get for her she said, “Coloring books and stationary.” So…I was kind of baffled by this. But apparently my niece loves coloring and writing letters. I thought just a plain coloring book and some paper would be such a boring gift, so I decided to make her some pretty DIY crayons. (more…)

DIY Cooking: How to Make Pickled Beets

They may be messy, and kind of weird, but I love beets. I know they’re not for everybody, but they’re a big favorite in my family. My grandma came from a Pennsylvania Dutch background and she used to make her own pickled beets all the time. I grew up eating them all the time whenever I visited her, but I don’t think I ever fully appreciated them until I was in my 20s. Lately I’ve been wanting to know how to make my own pickled beets – DIY pickled beets, if you will. The process is actually super easy (although a bit messy), and there are tons of things you can do with DIY pickled beets! (more…)

DIY Vision Boards Ideas and Tips

Okay, so I have sort of an embarrassing story. A few weeks ago I got invited to a blogger event for Athleta UTC – it’s a fitness clothing store here in San Diego. In addition to some fun giveaways in the store, they had a free yoga session. I haven’t been working on my fitness too much lately, and it’s definitely been YEARS since I’ve done yoga, but I thought it would be fun. And it was fun… until the next day. (more…)

Bacon Refried Beans

Hey, everybody! Today I want to share a recipe with you that features one of my very favorite ingredients…wait for it…wait for it… BACON! Yes, you all know how I love bacon, so when I decided to try my hand at cooking my own refried beans, you know I had to add in some bacon. (more…)

Mint Oreo Rice Krispie Treats

Who doesn’t love Rice Krispie treats, right? I’d say they’re probably one of the most favorite desserts out there for kids and adults alike! Why? Because they’re easy to make, and they’re super delicious! I took classic Rice Krispies treats and put a spin on them with my own mint Oreo Rice Krispie treats recipe. (more…)
