“Grown-Up” Pizza Bites with Mezzetta Pasta Sauces

pizza-mezzetta5

Fall is my favorite season for many reasons: Halloween, Thanksgiving, everything pumpkin spice flavor, and of course, football! I really love getting together with my family and friends and watching my favorite football teams play every week. Because I want to spend less time in the kitchen, and more time with my family and friends, these “grown-up” pizza bites are a great dish for football season, and the perfect way to #FallForFlavor.

I call these “grown-up” pizza bites because they’re kind of like the pizza bites you might find in the freezer aisle, but with a much more elevated taste. Elevated, yet simple, however – there are only 4 ingredients in the whole recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 tube pre-made pizza crust
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 3/4 cups parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Mezzetta Napa Valley Homemade Roasted Garlic & Caramelized onions pasta sauce

I really like using Mezzetta Napa Valley Homemade pasta sauce with this recipe, because Mezzetta uses 100% hand-selected plum tomatoes in their sauces, with no added sugar, no paste, and no shortcuts.

Pizza Collage1Directions:

Roll out your pizza dough and use a circle cutter (can be a cup or cookie cutter) to cut out 12 circles of dough. Place dough into muffin tins.

Poke a few holes in each pizza crust, and place in the oven. You’re going to parbake the pizza crusts in a 425 degree oven for about 2 minutes. Parbaking just means you’re partially baking the crust to ensure it gets all the way cooked once you put the ingredients into the pizzas.

Place 1 teaspoon of Mezzetta Napa Valley Homemade pasta sauce into each pizza crust. Next, cook your chopped onions, and put 1/2 tablespoon of onions in each pizza with the sauce. Top each pizza with 1 tablespoon of parmesan cheese.

Bake pizza bites in the oven at 425 degrees for an additional 6 minutes. Remove from oven and let the pizza bites cool for about 5 minutes. Use remaining Mezzetta Napa Valley Homemade pasta sauce as a dipping sauce for the pizza bites.

What an easy, quick and yummy looking recipe. My kids would love this. I am going to do this, and have different toppings so the kids can choose their own.
