DIY Ombre Cassette Tape Art

Ombre-Cassette-Tape-Art

Ombre crafts are all the rage these days – and I love them all. I love the look of ombre and wanted to make some ombre wall art for my apartment (in my never ending quest to make stuff to put on walls).

I was browsing around the Goodwill near my house and found all these old cassette tapes for sale and I thought I should really figure out something to do with them. So I combined my love of ombre art with cassettes and threw in some chevron print for good measure. You really can’t go wrong with that combination of things, right?

I sanded the cassette tapes with sandpaper and then spray painted them four different shades of purple.

I then took a canvas that I got at the Salvation Army for about $2, painted over it with white paint, and then decoupaged the grey chevron paper onto it.

Last but not least, I glued the cassette tapes onto the canvas from light to dark using my heavy-duty E6000 glue. I’m pretty sure that stuff will glue anything onto anything. Or at least it has glued everything I’ve always needed it to.

Voila! I think it will look really nice next to my DIY painted chandelier. I originally had planned on doing the cassette tape art 4×4, but my canvas wasn’t big enough. I ended up with some leftover cassette tapes, so I might just try my hand at a cassette tape wallet next.

Ombre, cheveron, and the 80s. A great combination. This idea in neon would make great cheap 80s party decor as well!

This is probably the most clever thing I’ve seen in awhile. It is so original! Also, you cannot go wrong with chevron and ombre anything in my opinion.
